Naval frontline Su-24M Fencer bombers are being equipped with SVP-24 Gefest system which was tested by Russian aircraft in Syria. Su-24Ms of the 43rd naval air regiment in Crimea were the first to receive the system which allows unguided weapons to hit small targets. Experts believe the pilots will be able to interact with the Ground Forces, commandos and Airborne Forces, the Izvestia daily writes.

Northrop Grumman has been selected to provide the prime mission equipment for the Sierra Nevada Corporation-led AC/MC-130J Radio Frequency Countermeasure (RFCM) program. Northrop Grumman’s RFCM system utilizes the latest in antenna, amplifier and electronics technology. This technology provides superior situational awareness and better enables aircraft survivability in operationally relevant environments.

According to information released by the Memo Middle East Monitor, on July 28, 2020, Egypt will receive its first Sukhoi Su-35 fighter aircraft from Russia. In March 2019, it was reported that Egypt would procure two dozen of Sukhoi Su-35 fighter aircraft from Russia in a deal valued about $US2 billion, finalized in late 2018. Deliveries were expected to begin as early as 2020 or 2021. Deputy head of the Rosoboronexport Sergei Kornev denied the signing of any contract to supply Su-35s to Egypt.

The first batch of five Rafale fighter jets built for the Indian Air Force by French aircraft manufacturer Dassault Aviation arrived at Ambala Air Force Station in the state of Haryana on July 29. These jets departed Dassault Aviation’s Mérignac facility in France on July 27 and covered nearly 7,000 km from the Merignac airbase near the French port city of Bordeaux.

According to information released by the NATO website, on July 26, 2020, the fourth remotely piloted aircraft of NATO’s Alliance Ground Surveillance (AGS) Force RQ-4D dubbed Global Hawk arrived at the Italian Air Force Base in Sigonella, Italy. The aircraft took off from Edwards Air Force Base in California, USA, at 18:33 local time on July 25 and landed at Sigonella at 16:20 local time the following day, almost 22 hours later.

Security Forces is the largest career field in the U.S. Air Force and debatably one of the most diverse. Members are specifically trained on security, defense, law enforcement, combat arms and military working dogs. For some defenders, they are presented the opportunity to expand even further into one of these specialized jobs they may not have known were possible for them.

The U.S. State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of the Netherlands of 16 AIM-120C-8 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM) and related equipment for an estimated cost of $39 million. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale.

India has formally kicked off the acquisition process for six more long-range Boeing Poseidon-8I maritime patrol aircraft from the US, while a plan is also underway for fast-track procurement of six Predator-B armed drones in naval version (Sea Guardian) amidst the ongoing military confrontation with China, Rajat Pandit reports on the Times of India.
