Rockwell Collins wins major contracts to support US Army, USAF and foreign countries aircraft fleets | |||

The
US Department of Defense announced today, April 7, it has awarded three
major contracts to US-based company Rockwell Collins for the sustainement
of several fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft fleets of US Army, US Air
Force and foreign countries. |

Rockwell
Collins was awarded a $494,999,925 order dependent contract for software
and system development and integration onto the CH-47,
MH-47, MH-6, MH/UH/HH/VH-60,
VH-3,
MH-65 and all their variants, including potential foreign military sales
requirements. Funding and work location will be determined with each order
with an estimated completion date of April 2020.
The US-based company was also awarded an $8,093,754 modification to contract Common Avionics Architecture System (CAAS) Software Maintenance for the US Army's fleet of CH-47F Chinook transport helicopters. The Rockwell Collins digital cockpit is fitted with the common avionics architecture system (CAAS) with improved electrical, avionics and communication systems. CAAS includes: five multi-function displays, moving map display; digital modem; BAE Systems digital advanced flight control system (DAFCS); data transfer system storing preflight and mission data. Rockwell Collins likewise won a $28,306,784 contract for KC-10 Communication Navigation Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) Group A and Group B kits. Rockwell will provide 22 Group A kits, 22 Group B kits and subcomponents for the US Air Force's KC-10 Aircraft fleet. The KC-10 Extender is an Air Mobility Command advanced tanker and cargo aircraft designed to provide increased global mobility for U.S. armed forces. Although the KC-l0's primary mission is aerial refueling, it can combine the tasks of a tanker and cargo aircraft by refueling fighters and simultaneously carry the fighter support personnel and equipment on overseas deployments. The KC-10 is also capable of transporting litter and ambulatory patients using patient support pallets during aeromedical evacuations. The USAF currently maintains 59 KC-10 aircraft in active duty. |
