"The Sukhoi Company has delivered the first batch of Su-34 frontline bombers to the Russian Defense Ministry in accordance with the 2016 state defense order," the press office said.

"The planes took off from the Chkalov Aircraft-Manufacturing Plant in Novosibirsk [in West Siberia] to head for their permanent bases," the press office added.

A source in the Russian Armed Force said that the Aerospace Force had received four new frontline bombers. "Four Su-34 planes delivered to the Aerospace Force will be operational with Russia’s Eastern Military District," the source said.

"The main deliveries of advanced planes to Russia’s Western Military District have been completed. Now Su-34 frontline bombers will start arriving for units based in Russia’s Far East," the source added.

Spokesman for the Russian Eastern Military District Colonel Alexander Gordeyev said earlier that Su-34 frontline bombers were expected to arrive for an air unit based in the Khabarovsk Territory in the Russian Far East in early June.

Apparently, the new frontline bombers are designed for the 277th Bomber Regiment based at the Khurba airfield near Komsomolsk-on-Amur.

The new planes are designed to replace Su-24M (Fencer) frontline bombers operational with the 277th Bomber Regiment.
