As per the announcement provided on Kazakhstan's electronic platform for the sale of state-owned assets, the initial price for the entire collection exceeds one billion tenge (equivalent to over 1.5 million US dollars), as reported by Militarnyi. The state entity responsible for selling this aircraft equipment is "Kazarnaulyexport" (Kazspecexport).

The aircraft being offered for sale are formerly employed by military units located in various regions of Kazakhstan, including Almaty, Abay, Karaganda, and Shymkent. These primarily consist of MiG-31 supersonic fighter-interceptors, MiG-27 fighter-bombers, MiG-29 fighters, and Su-24 front-line bombers, which were manufactured during the 1970s and 1980s.

It is noteworthy that these military aircraft are no longer in operational condition, and the cost-effectiveness of modernizing them is considered unfeasible. Given their current technical state, repurposing them for other uses, including salvaging spare parts, is also deemed unviable. Consequently, in accordance with the tender requirements, the sale of these older aircraft is contingent upon their disposal within the premises of the Air Defense Forces military units of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan is gradually phasing out its obsolete inventory of Soviet-manufactured combat aircraft in favor of modern alternatives. Notably, Kazakh military pilots are now utilizing Russian Su-30SM multirole fighters capable of operating under diverse weather conditions and at any time of day while executing ground target airstrikes.
