“The development of the missile attack early warning system through 2030 envisages the upgrade of a number of highly prefabricated radars in the Krasnodar Territory and the Irkutsk Region and the establishment of new equipment with improved tactical and technical characteristics and jam resistance in the Leningrad Region,” Suchkov said.

According to him, the commissioning of these stations will complete the re-equipment of the missile attack early warning system with new-generation radars.

The Voronezh-DM highly prefabricated radar is designed to detect ballistic missiles, including intercontinental ones, on flight trajectories and identify targets. It makes part of Russia’s missile attack early warning system.

Compared to the previous models, the Voronezh-DM radar is operated by fewer personnel, consumes less power and it takes less time to establish it.
