India' Sukhoi 30 MK-I successfully test-fired air version of BrahMos missile

Air version of BrahMos supersonic cruise missile was successfully test-fired from the supersonic fighter aircraft Sukhoi 30 MK-I at 1030 hrs from Integrated Test Range, Chandipur off the coast of Odisha.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has congratulated the developers on the successful test-firing.

BrahMos is a supersonic cruise missile produced by the Russian-Indian joint venture BrahMos Aerospace. It was designed by the Russian NPO Mashinostroeniya (a subsidiary of the Tactical Missiles Corporation, KTRV) and Indian DRDO.

The first test launch took place in 2001. The Indian Air Force, Navy, and Ground Forces are armed with BrahMos.

The Sukhoi Su-30MKI (Flanker-H) is a twinjet multirole air superiority fighter developed by Russia's Sukhoi and built under licence by India's Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for the Indian Air Force (IAF). A variant of the Sukhoi Su-30, it is a heavy, all-weather, long-range fighter.
