India is to soon offer American aircraft manufacturer Boeing a deal to supply 15 heavy-lift helicopters to the Indian Air Force, local media reported Tuesday, October 30, 2012. The Press Trust of India reported that unidentified Indian Defense Ministry officials said talks on the price of the aircraft and procurement details are the result of Boeing emerging as the low bidder in a helicopter procurement competition.

EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif., Oct 17, 2012 – An F-35A conventional takeoff and landing (CTOL) aircraft completed the first in-flight weapons release of a 2,000 pound GBU-31 BLU-109 Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) from a 5th Generation fighter, Oct. 16. The flight was conducted by U.S. Air Force Maj. Eric "Doc" Schultz.

The helicopters have been assembled in Peru by Russian specialists after their transfer from Russia. They are part of a $20-mln upgrade deal involving seven Mi-25s, whose service life has been extended by seven years.

India and Russia gave the green light on Friday to a joint project to develop a Military Transport Aircraft, Russia's United Aircraft Corporation (OAK) said after the signing ceremony in New Delhi. "A contract was signed by the client, the joint Indian-Russian MTAL venture, and the contractors, Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) and Russia's United Aircraft Corporation Transport Planes (OAK-TS)," OAK said.

We propose serial production of the plane should start by 2020," he said, following the meeting of an Indian-Russian intergovernmental commission.
