Under the leadership of Colonel (Aviation) Manuel Méndez Mercedes, Director of Air Defense, the exercise involved various units, including combat, rescue, and air transport squadrons, as well as the base security command and the Special Forces Command.

During 'Maura 2023', the FARD executed complex aerial interception procedures and coordination, directed by the Command and Control Center (Air Defense Directorate). Air weapon controllers guided the participating flight squadron crews and FARD commands through the exercise's phases.

The training involved aircraft such as the Embraer A-29B Super Tucano from the Fighter Squadron and Bell UH-1H Huey II helicopters from the rescue brigade, showcasing the diverse capabilities of the FARD's aerial fleet.

The A-29 Super Tucano, a light attack and counter-insurgency aircraft, has become an indispensable asset for air forces worldwide, particularly in areas facing internal conflicts. Originating from Brazil and produced by Embraer Defense and Security, the Super Tucano is a symbol of Brazil's aeronautical engineering excellence.

First flown on June 2, 1999, the Super Tucano was a significant advancement in light-attack aviation. Since its global introduction in 2003, the aircraft has been in continuous production, designed to perform a variety of missions with its light attack and counter-insurgency capabilities.

The Bell UH-1H Huey II represents an enhanced version of the classic Bell UH-1H helicopter, known for its versatility and reliability. Manufactured by Bell Helicopter, a Textron subsidiary, the Huey II upgrade offers improved performance and can be configured for multiple mission profiles, including troop transport, cargo, search-and-rescue, special operations, disaster response, and firefighting.
