It is expected to conduct its maiden flight by the end of September. According to GAIC, the aircraft will participate to the 12th Zhuhai International Air Show in November.

The FTC-2000G is a variant of the FTC-2000 Shanying with improved multi-role capabilities. The model can have up to seven hardpoints and a maximum payload weight of 3,000 kg. According to technical data, it features a heavier normal takeoff weight (8,000 kg) but now has a shorter range (1,650km) and endurance time 2h).

The multi-functional military aircraft is fit for attacking, fighting and training. It could also be used for reconnaissance purpose or even adapted to a reconnaissance plane.
