US Army's 10th Combat Aviation Brigade arrives in Europe to support Op. Atlantic Resolve
 
The US Army 10th Mountain Division's 10th Combat Aviation Brigade initiated offloading more than 700 pieces of support equipment on Wednesday Feb. 8th at the seaport of debarkation, in Antwerpen, Belgium. Nearly 2,000 Soldiers from the brigade and their equipment are being deployed as the latest unit to bolster the U.S. presence in Europe.

"We're going to be all over Europe joining the Strong Europe team and integrating into their training plan for the next nine months," Col. Clair A. Gill, 10th CAB commander, said in an earlier article.

The Department of the US Army announced the unit's deployment to Europe in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve, Nov. 3, 2016.

"While an armor brigade is a very lethal force, and they're going to do some fantastic training with our partners on the ground, aviation really is what I like to call that three-dimensional problem solver for the Army, the joint force and our coalitions," Gill said. "We move faster than they do on the ground, and we shoot farther in some cases than some systems from the ground."

The 10th CAB is being deployed with about 2,200 soldiers for a nine-month rotation from February-November 2017. Soldiers are deployed along with 12 CH-47F Chinook heavy-lift helicopters, 38 UH-60L/M Black Hawk utility choppers, 12 HH-60 Black Hawk MEDEVAC helicopters and 24 AH-64D Apache attack helicopters.

Missions will include medical transport, exercise support and aviation operations throughout Europe to improve interoperability and strengthen relationships.

The 635th Transportation Detachment, 39th Transportation Battalion, 16th Sustainment Brigade, 21st Theater Sustainment Command, worked closely with the Surface Deployment and Distribution Command to track and report equipment movement, and to provide transportation expertise to enable rapid force flow through the deployment pipeline.
