Russian Helicopters to double Ka-52 helicopters production due to foreign orders

The production of Russian-made combat reconnaissance and attack Ka-52 helicopters will increase over two-fold in 2017 due to foreign orders, the press service of the Russian Helicopters Holding said. Last year then CEO of the Russian Helicopters Alexander Mikheyev said Russia signed a contract with Egypt for the delivery of 46 Ka-52. The press service later specified export supplies will begin in 2017.

"In 2017 the production of the helicopters will more than double due to the work for export. The first helicopter for the foreign customer has been assembled and is successfully undergoing test trials," it said.

The combat reconnaissance and attack helicopter Ka-52 has been serially produced for the Russian defense ministry since 2010. It is designated to destroy tanks, armored and non-armored vehicles, personnel, helicopters and other flying craft of the adversary at the frontline and in the tactical rear in any weather conditions and time of the day.

The helicopter is equipped with modern avionics and powerful armaments which can be configured for various combat missions while the coaxial configuration of the main rotors and increased longitudinal cyclic control capacity allow the craft to efficiently maneuver. Ka-52 is equipped with radio-electronic warfare protection system and signature decreasing devices which trim, disperse and distort the heat trace of the engines, as well as with active counteraction means.
