The Polyot Scientific and Production Enterprise is a subsidiary of Russia’s United Instrument-Manufacturing Corporation.
"The development of this helicopter has been included in the state armament program. The Defense Ministry is currently formulating a requirements specification," Komyakov said. A spokesman for the United Instrument-Manufacturing Corporation told TASS in February 2016 that the Polyot Enterprise had developed prototype equipment for new-generation heliborne command posts. The Soviet Union developed a whole number of helicopters used as airborne command posts. In particular, airborne command posts were developed on the basis of the Mil Mi-6 (NATO reporting name: Hook) helicopter (also known as the Mi-22 rotorcraft) and the Mi-8 (Hip) helicopter. Also, an airborne command post based on the Mi-26 (Halo) heavy-lift helicopter underwent trials. |
