BAE Systems selected to provide EW system for USAF EPAWSS program
 
On October 1, 2015, BAE Systems announced that after a competitive review, it has been selected by prime contractor Boeing to provide the EW system for the U.S. Air Force’s Eagle Passive Active Warning Survivability System (EPAWSS) program. This selection to provide the mission critical EW upgrade for more than 400 F-15 fighter aircraft is expected to be worth in excess of $1 billion to BAE Systems over the next 10 years with the initial award value of $67 million.

As part of the EPAWSS program to update the F-15 platform, this digital electronic warfare suite will replace the Tactical Electronic Warfare System (TEWS), which has been in use since the 1980s. By replacing TEWS, the Air Force is providing next-generation EW technology for advanced threat detection to maintain air dominance for F-15 fighters that are scheduled to be in active service through 2040.

EPAWSS continues BAE commitment to providing the F-15 fleets of U.S. and allied nations with the most advanced aviation capabilities on the market. The foundation for that effort was set in 2009, when our Digital Electronic Warfare System (DEWS) became the first new U.S.-developed EW system to be installed on the platform in several decades.

With EW systems already on more than 80 platforms, this latest franchise program leverages the company’s technological innovations developed for the F-22 and the F-35. As the sole-provider of EW systems for the stealth F-35 aircraft – which is expected to be used by the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, and Marine Corps, as well as at least 10 other allied nations – the company is providing pilots with maximum situational awareness, helping to identify, monitor, analyze, and respond to potential threats.
