Irkut plans to deliver 60 new military aircraft to Russian Armed Forces in 2015
 
Russia's Irkut aircraft maker will deliver 30 Su-family fighter jets and 30 Yak-130 combat trainers to the Russian Armed Forces in 2015, the company said Monday, October 13. "The year 2015 will be a record-setting year for us as we will deliver 60 aircraft, including 30 of the Su-family and 30 Yaks," head of Irkut, Oleg Demchenko, said in an interview with Rossiya-24 TV channel.

The company is expected to deliver 54 combat jets to the Russian military by the end of 2014.

Last week, Russia's Armed Forces reported having received 50 aircraft and helicopters, including multipurpose Su-30SM jets and Su-34 fighter bombers.

In August, Russia's Sukhoi aircraft maker delivered a batch of Su-30M2 multirole fighter jets to the Russian Air Force. Several more Su-30M2s were expected to be handed over to the Air Force later this year.

According to Russian Air Force Commander-In-Chief Col. Gen. Viktor Bondarev, Russia's Air Force plans to completely overhaul its pool of strike and fighter aircraft, as well as helicopters, by 2020.
