Earlier this month, Lockheed won a $244 million modification contract from the Pentagon to ensure that labor and material costs of 61 units of the C-130J aircraft is reduced through the procurement of raw materials by the company.

The C-130J "Super Hercules" is a four-engine turboprop military transport aircraft. The improvements built into the C-130J, which entered production in 1997, have enhanced the performance of the aircraft in terms of its range, cruise ceiling time to climb, speed and airfield requirements.

Lockheed Martin has also been awarded a $16,637,643 contract for providing training system support center services to US Air Force's airbases. Lockheed will provide software/hardware support, minor modification work, obsolescence monitoring and identification, and overall system operation reporting. Work will be performed at Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas, and Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico, and is expected to be completed by Dec. 31, 2015.
