The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) has adopted the first Australian-made BLU-111 B / B warhead.

Final operational flight for the Royal Canadian Air Force CC-115 Buffalo

The final operational flight for the Royal Canadian Air Force CC-115 Buffalo aircraft was flown on January 15 by 442 Transport and Rescue Squadron, based out of 19 Wing Comox, British Columbia. As part of this last flight, the 19 Wing crew flew a Search and Rescue (SAR) patrol over Canada’s western-most coast and the Pacific Ocean.

Russian S-400 battalions and Su-35 aircraft to be sent to exercise in Belarus

Two battalions of air defense systems S-400 and twelve Sukhoi-35 fighter jets will be sent to Belarus from Russia for participation in an exercise to be held next month for testing the readiness of the Union State’s collective reaction force, Russia’s Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin said on January 18.

Belgium receives its sixth Airbus A400M

On January 14, the 15th Wing Air Transport of Belgian Air Force received its sixth Airbus A400M. This A400M  will be operated within a binational unit composed of a total of eight aircraft, seven from the Belgian Air Force and one from the Luxembourg Armed Forces.

The French Ministry of the Armed Forces’ Directorate of Aeronautical Maintenance (DMAé) recently awarded Dassault Aviation the new-generation contract to support the Mirage 2000 fleet of the French Air and Space Force (FASF).

South Korea Code One presidential jet has flown its first operational trip

Code One is the name of the Republic of Korea Air Force aircraft which carries the President of South Korea. Code One has been officially replaced by a Boeing 747-8i.

Belgian Defense to invest in new helicopters

According to the Belgian newspaper La Libre Belgique, the Belgian Minister of Defense Ludivine Dedonder wants to add 3 billion euros to the 2016 strategic plan for new equipment. The main part of the additional budget will be invested in new helicopters.

Philippine Air Force to get 32 additional S-70i Black Hawk helicopters

The Philippinedefence secretary said on January 16 that the Phillipines will acquire 32 new S-70i Black Hawk helicopters.

Royal Australian Air Force received its first upgraded C-130J Hercules

The first Royal Australian Air Force C-130J Hercules to be upgraded to Block 8.1 standard arrived home at RAAF Base Richmond last month. Upgraded in the USA by Lockheed Martin with support from US Air Force , the remaining 11 aircraft will be modified in Australia by Airbus Australia Pacific.

US approves foreign military sale of MQ-9 communications intelligence sensor pod suites to France

 The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of France of MQ-9 Communications Intelligence Sensor Pod Suites and related equipment for an estimated cost of $88 million. 

Royal Netherlands Air Force second F-35 squadron takes shape

While Royal Netherlands Air Force declared IOC for its F-35 fighters at the end of December, new F-35s are still arriving. The Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF) announced on 12 January that, with the last of 24 F-35As now delivered to 322 Squadron at Leeuwarden Air Base, the first aircraft for 313 Squadron have now begun arriving at Volkel Air Base also.

€260M contracts will see Leonardo play core role in E-scan radar for German and Spanish Typhoons

Leonardo has announced that it has signed over €260M of contracts with HENSOLDT which will see the company playing a key role in the development and delivery of the Eurofighter Typhoon’s ECRS Mk1 (European Common Radar System Mk1) E-scan radar, ordered by Germany and Spain. Leonardo will conduct development work on new wideband capabilities and provide core parts of the new radar’s antenna, APSC (Antenna Power Supply & Control) and its processor.

Malaysia to receive 6 MD 530G Light Scout Attack helicopters

On January 13, MD Helicopters, Inc. (MDHI) announced the initial acceptance of six MD 530G Light Scout Attack helicopters for the Malaysia Ministry of Defense via their agent Halaman Optima/ Destini Prima. The aircraft are now in transit to Malaysia for final acceptance and expected to arrive in-country by the end of the first quarter of 2022. As part of the contract eight pilots and nine mechanics from the 881st Regiment of Malaysia Army Aviation have completed forward arming and refueling point (FARP) operations training in West Texas.
