According to Ukrspetsexport, specialists of the State Enterprise "Mykolaiv Aircraft Repair Plant" NARP, which is part of Ukroboronprom, have completed the overhaul and modernization of the refueling aircraft IL-78 of the Pakistan Air Force.

The work was carried out under a multimillion-dollar contract concluded between Ukrspetsexport State Company and the Procurement Office of the Air Force of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in June 2020. Then Ukrspetsexport was announced the winner of the tender for the repair of the Pakistani "air tanker" with the option to conclude additional contracts in the future.

Recently, the restored and modernized aircraft was handed over to the crew of the Pakistan Air Force and went to the base. Ukrspetsexport called this event an important stage of cooperation with Pakistani partners. "Successful implementation of this contract is another confirmation of the high level of cooperation between Ukraine and Pakistan in the field of military-technical cooperation. We do not put an end to it, because we still have a lot of joint projects ahead. And not only in the aviation industry, "said Artur Maksimov, Deputy General Director of Ukrspetsexport. According to him, more than ten export contracts worth over $ 150 million are currently being processed in the armored industry alone.

"Further deepening of Ukrainian-Pakistani military-technical cooperation contributes to strengthening not only the defense capabilities of our countries, but also the fraternal relations between Ukraine and Pakistan," Artur Maksimov said.

In June 2021, within the framework of the International Specialized Exhibition "Weapons and Security", General Director of Ukrspetsexport Vadym Nozdrya signed another contract with the Pakistani side for the overhaul and modernization of the IL-78 refueling aircraft.
