Brazil: AFA inaugurates T-4000 simulator for the instruction of aviator cadets


In Brazil, the Air Force Academy (AFA), located in Pirassununga (SP), inaugurated August 24 the modernized T-4000 simulator. The ceremony was presided over by the Air Force Information Technology Director (DTI), Air Brigadier Luiz Guilherme da Silva Magarão, accompanied by the AFA Commander, Air Brigadier Marcelo Gobett Cardoso. Also participating in the ceremony were the Chief of the Aeronautical Computing Center of São José dos Campos (CCA – SJ), Aviator Colonel Piterson Marques Lisboa, Commanders, Division Chiefs and other Military personnel from the Academy and the CCA-SJ.

The Director of the DTI, Brigadeiro Magarão, praised the welcome and partnership of the Academy team in the development of the Project and the technical capacity of the members of the CCA-SJ. “We are capable and we have developed a solution to a strategic problem for the Brazilian Air Force. This delivery will decisively contribute to basic education with the increase efficiency in the training of Cadets and saving resources, even extending the useful life of the aircraft. It is a commitment by DTI to invest in the modernization of teaching at the Air Force Academy”, he highlighted.

With the recent modernization of the T-27 Tucano aircraft, the need to update the simulator arose, with a total remodeling of its panel and avionics, adopting the new technologies and systems implemented. After the delivery of the first T-27M aircraft to AFA, at the beginning of 2022, the process of adaptation and modernization of the T-4000 flight simulator with the CCA-SJ began, which in a short period managed to completely remodel the structure of the simulator, installing the modern Garmin systems, in addition to improving its flight capabilities.

In his words, the AFA Commander, Brigadier Gobett, thanked the DTI for the high-level management and monitoring so that the CCA-SJ could, in partnership with the Academy, implement this project. “We are immensely proud of this solution from the Brazilian Air Force, through the technique, the DTI and our operators who worked together to make us successful in the short term. We have already planned for the next year the operation of the four Cadet Squadrons of the Air Force Cadet Corps, so that everyone can have contact with the air activity in the Simulated Training Squadron. The one who wins with this system is the FAB”, he pointed out.

The Chief of the CCA-SJ, Colonel Piterson, praised the trust they placed in the project. “I am very grateful to the General Officers who trusted our mission and made it possible for us to reach a day like this. Low-cost simulators for the benefit of serious Aerial Instruction,” he concluded.

The inauguration of the modernized T-4000 is the realization of the Air Force Command's efforts to provide the best conditions for the full training of its future leaders.
