USA donates 12 MD530F helicopters to the Salvadoran Air Force


The US Embassy in El Salvador announced on 29 August that the US government donated 12 MD530F helicopters to the Salvadoran Air Force.

A donation of 8 MD530F helicopters have already be done and four more helicopters are on the way. The donation also includes logistical equipment for air support and pilot training.

The MD 530F is a small single-engine, light multipurpose utility helicopter that was designed and manufactured by Hughes Helicopters, now, MD helicopters. 

MD 530F Cayuse Warrior is an armed variant of the OH-6 Cayuse light observation helicopter built by MD Helicopters. It is designed to enhance scout attack, armed escort and close air attack capabilities of the air forces.

The multi-purpose armed helicopter can be deployed in tactical, reconnaissance and transport operations. It can also carry out airborne law enforcement, executive and personnel transport, air medical services, search-and-rescue (SAR), firefighting and other public safety missions.
