Greece hosts Iniochos 2021 exercise


The INIOCHOS 2021 (or Iniohos 2021) exercise  take place at Andravida Air Base, Greece, from 12 to 22 April. It is an annual medium scale exercise with the participation of all branches of the Hellenic Armed Forces with the addition of foreign participants.

The “INIOCHOS” Exercise was first conducted in the late 1980s, as a small scale tactical level exercise, tailored to the contemporary necessity for training in combined air operations in accordance with the Hellenic Air Force Doctrine. In order to achieve the objectives of the Exercise, the HAF FWS oversees the missions from scenario planning to debriefing and makes certain that they cover the full spectrum of missions currently performed by the Hellenic Air Force (HAF) such as Offensive Counter Air Operations (OCA); Air Defence Operations (ADO), Counter Surface Force Operations (csfo) including Air Power Contribution to Land Ops (Apclo) and Air Power Contribution to Maritime Ops (APCMO), RECCE missions, Combat Search And Rescue missions, Time Sensitive Target missions, Dynamic Targeting, High Value Airborne Asset missions, Slow Mover.

In INIOCHOS 2021 the following A/C from various countries, are participating:

• France with Rafale and Μ-2000D
• USA with F-16, MQ-9 and KC-135
• UAE with F-16
• Spain with F/A-18 Hornet
• Israel with F-15 and F-16
• Cyprus with helicopter AW139

Given the high level of the HAF personnel and Greece's capability to conduct exercises involving a variety of weapon systems within one of the largest exercise areas in Europe, the exercise «INIOCHOS» tends to become one of the most competitive exercises in Europe and the Mediterranean region, and provide Participants with a high level of training and unique experience of participation.
