L3Harris awarded $1B Space Force contract for situational awareness tech modernization, sustainment services


L3Harris Technologies  has won a potential 10-year, $1.2B contract to help the U.S. Space Force's Space and Missile Systems Center modernize and sustain ground-based systems used to process space data.

The company will maintain sensors and battle management command-and-control platforms under the Maintenance of Space Situational Awareness Integrated Capabilities, according to an award notice.

L3Harris will also update infrastructure for testing and integration of space security assets.

Contract work is intended to ensure operational performance and advancement of MOSSAIC systems align with mission requirements.

A prior solicitation notice stated that SMC used the "best value" source selection approach for the program.
