Serial production of Ka-62 helicopters will begin in 2020


The Russian Helicopters holding company, an affiliate of the Russian State Corporation Rostec, will launch serial production of the Ka-62 multirole helicopter next year according to information graphics posted on the corporation’s official page in Instagram.

"The launch of serial production of (Ka-62) helicopters is scheduled for 2020," it said.

Rostec also mentioned some characteristics of the new helicopter: maximum takeoff weight is 6,500 kg; the passenger capacity is up to 15 people. The maximum flight altitude is 6,100 meters; while the flight range, according to Rostec, is 1,135 km. The helicopter can develop a speed of up to 310 km/h, Rostec said adding that the share of composite materials in the production of the new helicopter accounts for 60%. Ka-62 can operate in a wide temperature range from -50 to +45 degrees Centigrade and can be parked outside a hangar.

"The main areas of operation include passenger transportation, rescue operations and work in the oil and gas sector. Besides, Ka-62 can have a sea modification. It can also be used in the Arctic," Rostec said.
