German and Romanian inspectors are making a joint observation flight over the Russian territory on board of a Romanian surveillance aircraft An-30 from Kubinka airfield, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"The Russian experts aboard the aircraft are controlling strict observance of the agreed flight parameters and the use of the surveillance equipment provided by the treaty," the ministry said.

An An-30 surveillance aircraft is not meant for carrying any weapons. The surveillance equipment installed on it (air cameras) has been subject to international certification in which Russian experts took part. This makes it impossible to use technical means, which are not mentioned in the treaty
