Rosoboronexport introduces full range of Russian air defense systems and aircraft at LIMA '15
 
Rosoboronexport, part of Russian Rostec Corporation, is continuing its active promotion of Russian military products in Malaysia and other Southeast Asian countries. The corporation is introducing Russian products at the International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition LIMA-2015, which is taking place March 17-21 on the island of Langkawi, Malaysia.
     
Rosoboronexport, part of Russian Rostec Corporation, is continuing its active promotion of Russian military products in Malaysia and other Southeast Asian countries. During LIMA 2015, the single Russian exhibit, organized by Rostec Corporation and occupying 645 square meters, is used by 18 Russian enterprises, including UEC and Russian Helicopters.

Among many products, Russian entreprises are highlighting several air defense systems, such as the Pantsir-S1 surface-to-air missile and anti-aircraft artillery weapon system, MANPADS Igla-S, and the Mi-171Sh helicopter. As noted by the head of Rosoboronexport’s regional department Vladimir Ereshchenko, who is leading the delegation to the exhibition, Russia has a good position in the Malaysian market.

We look forward to continued productive partnerships. We are ready not only to supply finished products, but also to discuss the organization of joint and licensed production. We will hold talks with virtually the entire leadership of Malaysian security forces, including the defense minister and head of the armed forces. We hope that in the coming years, military-technical cooperation between our two countries will increase,” the representative of Rosoboronexport said.

For regional partners, Rosoboronexport is also holding a presentation of the Yak-130 training aircraft, the Be-200 amphibious aircraft, the Mi-35M and Ka-226 airplanes.s

In total, the Rosoboronexport delegation is presenting more than 170 examples of Russian military products and expect to consult with Malaysian weapons manufacturers about the possibilities for implementing joint projects.

During the exhibition, demonstration flights is including Su-30MKM and MiG-29 aircraft from the Royal Malaysian Air Force.

The first contract for military-technical cooperation between Russia and Malaysia was signed in 1993 for the supply of multipurpose MiG-29 fighters, which later underwent a complete overhaul. In the early 2000s, Russia and Malaysia signed contracts for the supply of the Metis-M1 antitank systems, Igla MANPADS, and the multipurpose Su-30MKM fighter jet. In 2007, as part of an offset program for the contract supplying Su-30MKM jets, the first Malaysian astronaut flew to the International Space Station onboard the Soyuz spaceship.
