The exercises will take place at five training ranges to practice tactics of the destruction of land-based targets by mixed aviation groups and interception of air-based targets by Mikoyan MiG-31 and Mig-29SMT and Sukhoi Su-27SM jets. The pilots will practice air combat and dominance over large enemy forces, actions of mixed groups of fighter jets against air-based targets, in-flight fueling, suppression
of enemy air defense and aircraft with radio-electronic warfare instruments, he said.

"An A-50 jet and a ground control station will supervise the actions of the aircraft," he said.

The exercises will involve airfields and units of the Western and Southern Military Districts. They will assist the development of methods of joint operation of various types of aircraft and automated control systems, Drik said.
