BAE Systems to develop Bomber Armament Tester under $64mn USAF contract
 
BAE Systems has been awarded a US$64 million contract for the design, development, manufacture, and sustainment of the Bomber Armament Tester (BAT) System for the US Air Force strategic bomber fleet, the US DoD said on Sept. 27, 2017.

Under this contract, BAE Systems will provide engineering and manufacturing development of 90 BAT systems capable of being utilized on the US Air Force B-2A, B1-B, and B-52H stratefic bombers.

Work will be performed in San Diego, California, and is expected to be completed Feb. 1, 2027, the US DoD added.

The Automatic Test Systems, Robins Air Force Base, Georgia, is the contracting activity.

The BAT will be a common tester for armament systems on the B-2A, B-1B, and B-52H platforms capable of testing on-aircraft Stores Management Systems.

The BAT System shall include a core tester common to all three platforms and Test Program Sets (TPSs) that are platform-specific.
