"Ground crews have arrived at the aircraft plant in Irkutsk [in East Siberia] to examine the planes, assess the assembly quality, check the operation of their engines in various modes and test their systems and mechanisms," the press office said.

"Then, flight crews will perform several blue flights to check the fighter jets’ operational capabilities," the press office added.

After the planes are accepted, they will move to their airbase in Kubinka in the Moscow Region, the press office said.

The first batch of four Su-30SM fighter jets arrived at the Kubinka airfield in October 2016.

The Russian Knights aerobatic team is currently replacing its ageing Su-27Ps and Su-27UBs for the Sukhoi Su-30SM. The Su-30SM is a specialised version of the thrust-vectoring Su-30MKI and MKM variants for the Russian military, produced by the Irkut Corporation.
