Antonov delivers first overhauled An-26 transport aircraft to Ukrainian armed forces
 
Antonov Company, being a part of Ukroboronprom, completed the first stage of modernization of the An-26 transport for Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. This is the first aircraft from 14 ones to be delivered for operation in the zone of antiterrorist actions, the Ukrainian aircraft manufacturer Antonov announced recently.

In particular, the An-26 is protected from fire by portable anti-aircraft-missile complexes: containers with decoys for missiles disorientation. This special equipment is produced by Artem SJSH, which is a part of Ukroboronprom. In future it can be installed directly in field conditions.

Besides, the aircraft has a strengthen fuselage and necessary electric wiring. All works were performed at the Antonov’s expense. Documentation on the An-26 delivery for performance of operations in the ATO zone has already been developed.

We considerably increased rates of works, connected with ATO. At present, more than 20 Antonov aircraft, restored with participation of our enterprise, are being operated in Donbas. Carrying out a task of President of Ukraine, we will also work out the issues of production of unmanned and battle aircraft,” said Mykhaylo Gvozdov, the leader of Antonov Company.

The Antonov An-26 (NATO reporting name: Curl) is a twin-engined turboprop civilian and military transport aircraft.
