Pakistan showed interest in purchasing Z10 helicopters, sources said. The helicopter is capable of targeting the enemy within a range of 3 to 4 kilometers without coming in reader. It is also capable of targeting air and ground targets. The Z10 is armed with a 23mm cannon mounted under the nose. Two stub wings provide four stores stations for external ordnance. The main air-to-air missile deployed by the Z10 is the Ty-90, specifically designed for being used by helicopters in combat situation.

With the induction of Z10, Pakistan Army’s capability of targeting the terrorists will increase. Pakistan is already using combat helicopters in the war against terrorism.

The Z-10, also called WZ-10, is an attack helicopter developed by the People’s Republic of China. It is designed primarily for anti-tank missions but has secondary air-to-air capability as well. It was designed by Kamov design bureau of Russia under a contract by the Chinese government. It was further developed and flight tested by the 602nd Research Institute in Wu Ximing and is being built by Changhe Aircraft Industries Corporation (CAIC).
