U.S. and Italian military will make an observation flight over the Russian territory in a period from July 29 to August 2 while Russian military inspectors will make an observation flight over Norway, the Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper reported with reference to Ruslan Shishin, the acting head of the National Nuclear Risk Reduction Center.

"The Russian Federation is planning to make an observation flight onboard a Russian An-305 aircraft over the territory of Norway in compliance with the International Treaty on Open Skies. The observation mission will start from Bardufoss Open Skies airfield in Norway in a period from July 29 to August 2. At the same time, a joint U.S.-Italian mission will make a simultaneous observation flight onboard a U.S. Boeing OC-135B Open Skies aircraft over the Russian territory from Kubinka airfield," Krasnaya Zvezda said.

Open Skies observation missions are carried out with an aim to increase openness and transparency of the military activities of the signatory states and to strengthen security.
