"Today has seen the takeoff and successful landing of the essentially new Be-200ChS plane, on which we repose great hopes as far as both domestic and export orders are concerned. The aircraft has been flown by a Beriev crew - test pilots Nikolai Kuleshov and Yevgeny Yurasov," UAC says in a press release.

Compared to the Be-200ChS amphibians made in Irkutsk, the Beriev-built aircraft features the performance improved at the request of the Russian Emergencies Ministry and Defense Ministry. Essentially, it is a more sophisticated aircraft, because it has been upgraded by over 50% and its operation will be far more effective. Beriev plans to achieve an annual output of four amphibians by 2017 and ramp it up to six units per annum in five years. The manufacturer can assemble eight amphibians a year.
