GKN Aerospace’s business unit Fokker has been chosen to maintain and service the landing gear for the F-35 fleet in Europe and the Pacific. The Dutch Ministry of Defence announced the selection on Nov. 7, 2016, in a press release.

Cascade Aerospace Inc. recently delivered the final CC-130J to the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) after the entire fleet received the Block 7.0 upgrade. This marks a first for the entire aerospace industry and a first for Cascade as the only non-government organization to complete a production Block upgrade in the global C-130J fleet.

India's Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) yesterday, Nov.8, cleared major defence proposals worth USD 12.3 billion, which should greatly boost its air and land power and future combat performance. The proposals which have been cleared include the procurement of 83 Tejas Mk-1A fighters and about 600 mini-Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).

The German Bundeswehr Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) unmanned aerial system (UAS) Heron 1 flew its first operational mission in Mali on 1 November from Gao airport. The 5 hour 40 minutes flight was fully successful and occurred only about three months following the initial contract signature, Airbus DS announced on Nov. 3, 2016.

The separate helicopter regiment of the 4th Air and Air Defense Army, which is based in the Krasnodar Territory in south Russia, has received three advanced Kamov Ka-52 (NATO reporting name: Hokum-B) reconnaissance and attack rotorcraft, the district’s press office said.

An air unit based in the Khabarovsk Territory in Russia’s Far East has received a batch of Sukhoi Su-34 (NATO reporting name: Fullback) frontline bombers, district spokesman Colonel Alexander Gordeyev told TASS. "The batch of frontline bombers will be made operational in a new combat training year and will be used to accomplish combat training tasks within a squadron during tactical drills," Gordeyev said.

Australia has been chosen to provide maintenance, repair, overhaul and upgrade for the components of the Joint Strike Fighter in the Asia Pacific Region, announced Minister for Defence Industry Christopher Pyne on Tuesday. Pyne said this contract will create and sustain hundreds if not thousands of jobs, bringing about 100 million Australian dollars (77 million U.S. dollars) to the economy.

Airbus Helicopters has signed a contract with the Singapore Ministry of Defence for the acquisition of H225M Medium Lift Helicopters, the French company announced on Nov. 8, 2016. “We are greatly honoured that Singapore has selected the H225M as its next-generation Medium Lift Helicopter” said Guillaume Faury, CEO of Airbus Helicopters.

The Swedish Defence and security company Saab has received an order from the Swedish Defence Material Administration (FMV) for an advanced helmet mounted display (HMD) system, called Targo. The new system will be used for the Swedish Air Force’s Gripen E fighter aircraft. The order value is approximately US$ 13 million. Deliveries will take place between 2022 and 2026.
