Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands yesterday signed the final act that will allow the joint air policing of all three nations’ airspace. This agreement, inked in Rotterdam by the Belgian Air Force chief of staff Frederik Vansina, his Dutch counterpart Dennis Luyt, and by the ambassador of Luxembourg in Netherlands Pierre-Louis Lorenz, will be effective on January 1st, 2017.

South Korea's Air Force on Thursday deployed air-to-ground Taurus-class missiles for the first time for combat use, which are capable of targeting and destroying North Korea's nuclear and missile facilities at a long distance, officials said. The Taurus missile mounted on F-15K fighter planes can hit key facilities in Pyongyang from the sky over Daejeon, 164 kilometers south of Seoul, they said. The missile has a range of 500 kilometers.

Chinese helicopter designers are focusing on the development of an ultrafast tilt-rotor aircraft capable of flying 500 kilometers per hour, the nation's top helicopter researcher said to the China Daily. Wu Ximing, chief helicopter designer at State-owned aircraft giant Aviation Industry Corp of China, told China Daily on Monday that researchers at the company's Helicopter Research and Development Institute are developing the Blue Whale tilt-rotor aircraft.
