Boeing to modernize communication systems of the USAF's B-52 strategic bombers fleet
 
On Jan. 28, the U.S. Air Force awarded Boeing a full rate production contract to deliver 10 CONECT kits that modernize communication systems for the B-52 bombers today and into the future, the company announced yesterday, February 4. “CONECT gives the B-52 the agility and flexibility needed for the modern battlefield while also providing greater situational awareness for the aircrew,” said Scot Oathout, Boeing’s B-52 program director.

The South Korean Air Force said Thursday it has started a large-scale aerial exercise involving indigenous light attack fighter jets as part of efforts to evaluate and improve its strategic and combat capabilities, reports today South Korean newspaper The Korea Herald. The exercise "Soaring Eagle" kicked off Monday for a two-week run at an air base in the central city of Cheongju, 137 kilometers south of Seoul, according to the Air Force.

Boeing and the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) signed the second phase of a performance-based contract that reduces combat logistics support costs while enhancing warfighter readiness. Under terms of the contract Boeing will provide support for 11 different aircraft including the F/A-18 Super Hornet; AH-64 Apache; AV-8B Harrier; B-52 Stratofortress; C-17 Globemaster III and associated ground support equipment. Work will be administered from St. Louis.

The first of four Airbus Defence and Space A400M new generation airlifters ordered by the Royal Malaysian Air Force has made its successful maiden flight, marking a key milestone towards delivery. The aircraft, known as MSN22, took off from Seville, Spain, on 30 January at 17:30 local time (GMT+1) and landed back on site 1 hours and 30 minutes later.

Less than four months after completing all design reviews, Northrop Grumman's APG-83 Scalable Agile Beam Radar (SABR) has received its first production order from Lockheed Martin. Under the terms of the contract, Northrop Grumman will provide 142 radars to Lockheed Martin as part of the Taiwan Air Force F-16 upgrade program. The first production system will be delivered to Lockheed Martin in 2016.

The Iraqi Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced on 1st February that it had taken delivery of a second consignment of Mil Mi-28NE attack helicopters. The Ministry released a video showing two Mi-28s being unloaded from an Antonov An-124 transport aircraft operated by Russia’s Volga-Dnepr Airlines.

The Colombian government has received an offer to acquire French Dassault Aviation Mirage 2000-5F multirole aircraft , which would come from the French Air Force's inventory. The offer, revealed by industrial sources, includes a total of eighteen units for approximately $500 million. Of this, $350 million are for the cost of eighteen aircraft, and the remaining $150 million for logistics package.

The Royal Air Force’s contribution to the already formidable array of coalition aircraft operating against ISIL forces was further boosted by the arrival of the E-3D Sentry aircraft in Cyprus this week. The E-3D Sentry belonging to 8 Squadron at RAF Waddington arrived at RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus on Tuesday 27th January and the Lincolnshire based aircraft will join other aircraft from 903 Expeditionary Air Wing operating in the area.
