Embraer seeks to acquire knowledge and to develop doctrine based course for pilots and encourage improvements, along with the engineers in charge of the system, to fill the gaps that may exist in aeromedical evacuation operations (EVAM), for missions in Antarctica, where the FAB regularly operates the brazilian base Comandante Ferraz, and for dropping troops and military equipment in various combat situations using methods such as extraction parachute drag at low altitudes, or release of standardized pallets, and air infiltration by special forces elements and specialized equipment.

The prototype of the KC-390 follows its assembly schedule with the first flight by the end of 2014 and initial deliveries in the second half of 2016, after extensive flight tests and certification with at least two prototypes in flight and one being tested statically (iron bird) on ground.

The Brazilian Air Force, first customer of the KC-390, has ordered 28 copies at Embraer.
