S-400 air defense missile systems will be delivered to India by 2025


On January 17, Russian deputy chief of mission Roman Babushkinsaid all S-400 air defense missile systems will be delivered to India by 2025.

The S-400 nicknamed Triumf or Triumph, NATO code-named SA-21 Growler is a long-range surface-to-air missile system produced by Almaz-Antey. The S-400 Triumph is designed to engage, ECM, radar-picket, director area, reconnaissance, strategic and tactical aircraft, tactical and theatre ballistic missiles, medium-range ballistic missiles and other current and future air attack assets at a maximum range of 400 km, and an altitude of up to 30 km.

"The advance payment has been made. I do not want to specify the exact figure but we do have the advance payment. We have already launched the production, work is in progress and it will be carried out in compliance with the schedule", Head of Russia’s Rostec state hi-tech corporation Sergei Chemezov said during Dubai Air Show 2019.

India announced its plans to purchase Russian-made S-400 systems in 2015. The relevant contract worth 5.43 billion dollars was signed during a visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to India in 2018.
