The VRT30 convertiplane developed by the VR-Technologies Design Bureau is currently undergoing flight tests. It will serve as a basis for a convertiplane with a takeoff weight of up to two tons. "The VRT30 is a flying laboratory that will serve as a basis for a similar vehicle with a takeoff weight of up to two tons. The promising convertiplane is planned to incorporate the cutting-edge superconductivity technology developed by the SuperOks Company," Russian Helicopters Group CEO Andrei Boginsky said.

"The technology will reduce the weight of the propulsion unit, power generating system units and power supply systems. Thus, the weight of payload will grow, which will make the aircraft commercially attractive to a wide range of customers," he added. By the fourth quarter of 2017, the VRT30 convertiplane will start undergoing the second stage of its trials, during which it will be tested in different flight modes, weather conditions and with payload.

At the exhibition, Russian Helicopters Group displays an experimental prototype currently undergoing flight tests. The prototype has already performed a flight and crosswind hovering. The convertiplane’s automatic control system is undergoing bench tests for flights in fixed-wing mode. The serial production of the unmanned convertiplane is planned to begin in late 2018.
