The Royal Air Force has awarded Raytheon U.K. a US$159 million extension of its contract to manage support services for the Sentinel surveillance aircraft programme. The award extends the contract to 2021. Raytheon is actively engaged in developing and delivering multi-intelligence special mission aircraft platforms and ground-based command/control and dissemination solutions based on both tactical and strategic platforms, like Sentinel.

Russia’s Aerospace Force has received a batch of four Yakovlev Yak-130 (NATO reporting name: Mitten) combat trainers, the press office of Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation said. The Yak-130 combat trainers were manufactured by the Aircraft Plant in Irkutsk in East Siberia in accordance with the state defense order, the press office added.

The Russian Helicopters Corporation has shipped six Mi-8MTV-5 helicopters to the Belarusian Defense Ministry, with the next batch scheduled for delivery in 2017, the manufacturer’s press office said. "A six-ship batch of Mi-8MTV-5 military transport helicopters built by Kazan Helicopters (a subsidiary of the Russian Helicopters Corporation, itself a subsidiary of Rostec) has been delivered to the Belarusian Defense Ministry," the press office said.

The Rogachovo airfield on the Novaya Zemlya archipelago in the Arctic will be rebuilt in late 2017, Russian Deputy Defense Minister General of the Army Dmitry Bulgakov has told journalists. "Work is in progress at the Rogachovo airfield to expand and extend the runway and build the taxiways, ramp, aircraft anti-icing treatment area and other buildings and facilities. The airfield will be reconstructed in late 2017," the general said.
