"We have fulfilled the first stage of this work today. The Russian Defense Ministry has examined and accepted the design. Thus, we are carrying out the work in accordance with the schedule specified by the contract," Korotkov said.

"The plane that is staying here is currently undergoing all the assembly stages. This year, it will be assembled and delivered to the customer for flight tests," he added.

The MiG Corporation CEO did not specify how many MiG-35 fighter jets the pre-production batch would comprise.

According to Korotkov, the Corporation is carrying our R&D works on the plane under the contract signed with Russia’s Defense Ministry.

As the CEO said, the MiG-35 fighter jet has passed a big number of tests under other contracts.

The MiG Aircraft-Manufacturing Corporation has been waiting for the conclusion of the contract to start MiG-35 serial deliveries for several years.

Deputy Defense Minister Yuri Borisov said earlier that Russian servicemen were expected to receive 30 MiG-35 fighter jets under the 2020 state armament program.

Aerospace Force Commander-in-Chief Viktor Bondarev said later that Russian servicemen would start receiving MiG-35 fighter jets in 2018.
