The aircraft lacked N025 dome radar station located above the main rotor. The helicopter was equipped with 30mm 2A42 automatic gun. The weapons attached to underwing hardpoints can hardly be recognized due to the low resolution of the footage.

On March 16, Russian Zvezda (Star) broadcasting company released a footage which showed a Ka-52 (Hokum-B) attack helicopter deployed at the Hmeimim airbase. The aircraft had its rotor blades unbuttoned and wings folded.

Mi-28N Night Hunter is the latest modification of Mi-28 attack helicopter developed in the 1990s. The aircraft has a flight weight of 10,900 kg, a cruise speed of 265 km/h, a flight range of 450 km and a static/dynamic ceiling of 3,600 m/5,600 m respectively. The helicopter is armed with 30mm 2A42 automatic gun, 9M120 Ataka (AT-9 Spiral 2) anti-tank guided missiles, Igla-V air-to-air missiles, S-8/S-13 unguided rockets. Russian Armed Forces have deployed over 100 Mi-28N rotor-wing aircraft by early 2016.

Ka-52 attack helicopter has a flight weight of 10,800 kg, a cruise speed of 260 km/h, a flight range of 460 km and a service ceiling of 5,500 m.
