"Work is currently under way to prepare the design and technological process and launch production. The enterprise has already started manufacturing the first components," the press office added.

According to the press office, components for two aircraft prototypes, i.e. a flight and a reserve model, are expected to be delivered in 2016.

Only Russian-made parts and components will be used to manufacture the Il-112V aircraft.

The Il-112 light aircraft has a load-carrying capacity of six tons. It is being developed to replace the Antonov An-24 (NATO reporting name: Coke) and An-26 (Curl) aircraft.

It was reported earlier that the Russian Defense Ministry was expected to receive 62 aircraft of this type.

The Il-112V aircraft is designed to transport and airdrop light military hardware and equipment, cargoes and personnel.

The aircraft will be furnished with a modern digital avionics suite and a glass cockpit. The first flight model of the Il-112V aircraft is planned to start undergoing the first stage of joint state trials in 2017.

Russia’s Aviastar-SP Enterprise is cooperating with other defense contractors to produce the Il-112V light military transport aircraft. The enterprise will manufacture fuselage panels, doors and hatches under the Il-112V aircraft development program. The aircraft will be fully assembled at the Voronezh-based Aviation Enterprise.
