USAF grants AIS a $9.8mn contract for research and development in signal intelligence
 
The US-based company Assured Information Security (AIS) has been awarded a $9.8 million contract for research into signals intelligence. The company will provide "research and develop novel algorithms, techniques, capabilities and processes for achieving multi-platform signals intelligence data collection, management and analysis system for integration into Air Force, Navy and national enterprise architectures," according to the US Department of Defense contract announcement.

The work is scheduled to be completed by February 2019. The contract was awarded by the Air Force Research Laboratory.

AIS was founded in 2001 as a software company focused on research of critical Air Force and DoD cyber technology requirements. AIS focuses on the development of technologies that support the disciplines of Information Operations (IO), signals intelligence (SIGINT), and all phases of Computer Network Operations (CNO).

SIGINT or Signals intelligence is intelligence-gathering by interception of signals, whether communications between people or from electronic signals not directly used in communication.
