"Work will be performed at Marietta, Georgia, and is expected to be completed by Aug. 30, 2020. This modification involves unclassified foreign military sales (FMS) to France," the US DoD stated on its website.

This contract is part of a $650 million FMS announced in November 2015, through which France ordered two C-130J-30 aircraft, two KC-130J aerial refuelling aircraft, Rolls Royce AE-2100D Turboprop Engines, and spare parts. The two C-130J-30 aircraft will be delivered by late 2017 and early 2018 and the two aerial refuelling aircraft in 2019.

The C-130J is a comprehensive update of the famous Lockheed C-130 Hercules. This upgrade includes new Rolls-Royce AE 2100 D3 turboprops with Dowty R391 composite scimitar propellers, digital avionics, and reduced crew requirements. The C-130J-30 aircraft is the Lockheed Martin designation for its 4.6 m extended fuselage variant.
