Rolls-Royce Corp., Indianapolis, Indiana, is being awarded an $87,712,436 contract for the procurement of 38 AE1107C engines in support of the MV-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft for the United States Marine Corps. Work will be performed in Indianapolis, Indiana, and is expected to be completed in December 2016. The US Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Maryland, is the contracting activity.

The start of delivery of the new aircraft is scheduled for later in 2015.

The induction of this indigenous fighter jet will further facilitate advanced combat training of PAF fighter pilots. Pakistan's Deputy Chief of the Air Staff (Operations), Air Marshal Sohail Aman, was the chief guest on the occasion.

Bulgaria, a Nato member since 2004, still uses Soviet-made fighters which for several years it has been paying Russia’s RSK MiG to upgrade and maintain, reported Bulgarian news paper The Sofia Globe.

KAI has led the project to develop the helicopter by investing $713m since July 2013. “With the successful test flight, we are confident of completing the development by end-2015 as scheduled,’’ the flight manufacturer said in a press release.

In the coming days the aircraft, known as MSN22, will perform its first ground tests and flights before delivery. RMAF pilots, maintenance engineers and technicians are already undergoing training at the Airbus Defence and Space International Training Centre in Seville, Spain.
