The Mi-28N Night Hunter combat helicopter, made by Russian Helicopters a subsidiary of Oboronprom and part of State Corporation Rostec, has officially entered into service with the Russian Defence Ministry under an order signed by Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu. Before officially entering into service, the Mi-28N Night Hunter helicopter was operated by the Russian Armed Forces for several years.

The first Netherlands pilot took to the skies here Dec. 18, in the F-35A Lightning II, making the Netherlands the second partner country to operate the fifth-generation multirole fighter. Maj. Laurens J.W. Vijge, the Royal Netherlands Air Force F-35 Integrated Training Center training lead, completed his first flight after 210 hours of classroom training and 13 flights in the simulators.

BAE Systems annouced today that the Eurofighter Typhoon is out of the selection process for the replacement of 60 jet fighters of the UAE Air Force. Abu Dhabi is still in discussion with other defence firms and notably Dassault Aviation for its Rafale jet fighter. BAE dropped another news when it said "no deal has been found yet with Saudi Arabia on the remaing 48 Typhoon" that the British firm hopes to sell to the Kingdom.

Alenia Aermacchi signs contract with the Peruvian Air Force for two C-27J Spartan transport aircraft
 
Alenia Aermacchi, a Finmeccanica Company, has signed a contract with the Peruvian Ministry of Defense to supply two C-27J Spartan tactical airlifters. The contract has a value of around 100 million euro inclusive of a substantial logistic support package, technical assistance, training for pilots, crew and ground engineers and a set of special equipment that have been chosen by the customer.
Alenia Aermacchi, a Finmeccanica Company, has signed a contract with the Peruvian Ministry of Defense to supply two C-27J Spartan tactical airlifters. The contract has a value of around 100 million euro inclusive of a substantial logistic support package, technical assistance, training for pilots, crew and ground engineers and a set of special equipment that have been chosen by the customer.
With this contract Peru becomes the 11th customer of the C-27J Spartan.

The new engines have been specially developed for the new transport and passenger helicopter by Klimov, a UEC company.

Robin Rand, Commander, Air Education and Training Command, Randolph Air Force Base, Texas, and Brig. Gen. Michael Rothstein, Commander, 56th Fighter Wing, Luke AFB, Ariz., joined the employees who build the F-35 for the celebration.

As troop-carrying vehicles were loaded into the hold of a C17 transport aircraft this morning at an airbase near Marseilles the French army had suffered its first fatalities at the hands of the impoverished state’s violent militias.
